What is a Cookie?
Cookies are small files which are stored on a user’s computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client computer. This allows the server to deliver a page tailored to a particular user, or the page itself can contain some script which is aware of the data in the cookie and so is able to carry information from one visit to the website (or related site) to the next.
The use of persistent cookies
Persistent cookies are stored on your computer or other device and they remain there after you close your session until you delete them manually or until your browser deletes them based on the pre-determined period contained within the persistent cookie’s file.
The use of session cookies
Session cookies store information locally on your device for the duration of your visit and expire at the end of your browsing session, i.e. when you close your browser window the session, cookie and information it collected is deleted.
Google Analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and webpage usage. Google can also communicate this information to third parties unless required by law or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. We have no influence on this. We have not allowed Google to use the Analytics information for other Google services.
Right to inspect and correct or delete your data
You have the right to request access to and correction or deletion of your data. See our contact page for this. To prevent abuse we can ask you to adequately identify you. When it comes to access to personal data linked to a cookie, you need to send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find this in the settings of your browser.
